Deport Bounding Main
Campaign Extravaganza May 31, 2008
May 6, 2008
Great news! Our final
Deport Bounding Main event will be in the same
building as the hilarious duo,
MooNiE and BrooN.
The great
MooNiE
himself will be gracing our humble stage, bringing his peculiar brand of comedic
skills to wow the crowd. In return, Bounding Main will open for each of MooNiE
and BrooN's performances with a couple tunes to warm up the crowd. It'll be the
coolest thing since we opened for the 80's hair band Slaughter back in 2004
(true story!).
We welcome MooNiE and BrooN fans to our event and we strongly
encourage you, our faithful fans, to buy tickets to see their show either before
or after ours. If you've never seen these guys perform before, you've got to see
what you've been missing! You won't be sorry.
We are also very happy to announce that joining us will be the delightful
and exotic tribal dance troupe
Rakhshanda. We last performed together at last
year's Port Washington Pirate festival and they are great artists whose dances
you will enjoy! Plus
we'll have a silent auction, our final fund-raising effort for the Deport
Bounding Main campaign for our European voyage this year!
The event will be at the Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest
Illinois on May 31, 2008 4PM - 8PM. Included in our event will be several
fundraising efforts, including a silent auction and Operation Share the
Shanties. For more information on our show and on MooNiE and BrooN's shows, head
to
http://www.gortoncenter.org/,

tickets to the MooNie & BrooN Show through their website.

We hope to see you at the "Deport Fundraiser/Fifth Birthday
Party/Lots of Great Entertainment/Extravaganza!"

Bounding Main to sing for the troops!
January 21, 2008
It is with great excitement that we can now officially make the following announcement.
As part of our whirlwind European tour, Bounding Main has been invited to perform at the military hospital in Landstuhl, Germany! We are also hoping to perform at two nearby military bases in the area.
Landstuhl is the largest military hospital outside the United States. It is the destination for troops who have just left the battlefields in Afghanistan and Iraq, among other places, and are recuperating to make the journey home or to be sent back to rejoin their units. We are greatly honored by the opportunity to support our heroic troops in such a personal way.
In light of this wonderfully unique visit to the hospital and military bases, we have created Operation Share the Shanties! You now have an opportunity to contribute both to our troop-related travel fund, and more importanly, to the troops themselves. Here's how it works...
At any live performance, you can purchase a CD at a reduced price of $10 and write a personalized note to one of the individuals in our US Military. Your CD and note will be taken to Germany and presented by us, on your behalf, to a soldier. Your message from home will be put directly into the hands of the brave men and women overseas and every time they hear the music they will think of you and your support.
The money (minus the costs of CD production) will supplement the DEPORT fund. A soldier abroad will get a friendly and supportive message from back home, plus a fun CD to lift their spirits. In the event that we have an overage of funds when the trip has concluded, we will donate the remainder to the USO!
Operation Share the Shanties will be held at all live shows up until we get on the plane in August. We will also have an option for those that live far away - just drop us an email here and we'll make sure that your donation and message make it to Germany!
Please be assured that the Bounding Main crew will be working very hard throughout this trip. As the itinerary gets flushed out, we are becoming aware of exactly how little touristing we will get in and how much work we have to do. But we are energized, excited, and ready for the challenge!
Thank you, each and every one of you, for your untiring support of Bounding Main, and also of our troops overseas!
Bounding Main "Land Cruise" Fall Fundraiser October 20, 2007
September 7, 2007
Hey! Who wants to go on a cruise? A land
cruise that is!
Oh, you know us so well. Bounding Main couldnt possibly, ever, go on an
actual cruise so were going on a land cruise! And where to? Nowhere
water-based, I can tell you that.
How about we do what we do best and get lost? Not Lost at Sea, but rather lost
in a corn maze. Nothing says nautical adventure like climbing aboard a yellow
school bus and heading out to a farm!
Join the crew as we sail along the roadways (instead of the waterways) and
travel all the way up to Spring Grove, Illinois, to the Richardsons Farm! Once
there, well get lost in a corn maze by the light of the moon. Oh, did we not
mention that? Were going to navigate the maze in the dark! Ha ha! Hows that
for high adventure? After we find our way out (IF we find our way out) well
gather round ye old campfire and sing songs and make smores. (Mmmm, smores.)
None of that salty, rock-hard, tall-ship sailin food for us. After a hard night
navigating, well want soft marshmallow-y, chocolate-y type food cuz thats the
kind of sailors we are.

DEPORT Bounding Main Barbeque a huge success!
June 25, 2007
"Wow !! I knew to expect a good time, but you really outdid yourselves and
the only ones who did not have a good time were those who were not at the
BBQ. My wife and I truly enjoyed the festivities, the entertainment, and
meeting some new friends."
-- Bounding Mainiac Al Kempf
We had a GREAT time at the Deport Bounding Main BBQ on Saturday. Between
ticket sales and water balloon sales (see below) we made $581.12! Besides
that, we sold some buttons and CD's as well. Thanks everyone for your
support!
Just to tease those of you who couldn't make it, here's a rundown of the
highlights, in no particular order:
- Maggie debuted her new haircut - check it out!
- Richelle, the fabulouser and more beautiful half of Cap'n Jake, cooked and
cooked delicious food for the event. She spent days on it, and it was
wunnerful!
- The twinz outdid themselves with decorations and extra stuff
- We sang Barry Skipsey's Ocean Liner for the first time - a joyful song!
- The weather was perfect
- Did we mention Maggie's haircut? Ten inches chopped off!
- We introduced our rendition of the Star Spangled Banner
- We had a cutthroat game of croquet
- We had several rounds of a Swedish game called Kubb
- No children were harmed in the making of the Deport Bounding Main BBQ. However, there was a bit of child tossing and knocking about. Mostly
unintentional.
- Did we mention Richelle's cooking? Her brownies alone are UNbeLIEVable
- Everyone was given a song card to be presented at any time to a
member of Bounding Main, in exchange for which we would immediately sing the
song of choice
- Unusual performances of a few songs, like High Barbaree, Marching
Inland, Blow Boys Blow and Cadgwith Anthem, among others -- and when we
say unusual we mean really weird!
- Chalk art
- A raffle
- Water balloons were sold to be thrown at various members of Bounding Main - Several guests had surprisingly good arms (or vendettas?)
- We explained our idea for the next fundraiser its going to be a blast!
- Guests went home laden with gifts, and full bellies
- Everyone had a great time!
- Also, Maggie chopped her hair off. Donated it to Locks of Love
We hope all the fun folks who came to our BBQ, come to future Deport events
as well -- our guests were so fun!
The rest of you will have more opportunities to be a part of the Deport
campaign. Our next fundraiser is being planned fastidiously and will be
announced soon!
May 30, 2007
The door is closing on the first official DEPORT Bounding Main fundraiser.
The last ten seats are now available for the barbeque. If you're interested in taking part in the epic event, now's your chance. The bidding closes just after midnight on Saturday night, June 9th. Spread
the word. Please! We want all these tickets sold!
Remember, this is a BBQ in Grayslake, IL on June 23, in the afternoon. There
will be food, song, dance, ... err, well maybe not dance so much, unless
someone is moved in the moment.... we won't stop ya!
We have heard from several people that they have thought about bidding -- please stop
thinking about bidding, and ... well ... bid! Remember, you don't have to
bid on all ten tickets, you can bid on just one or two if you like.
If you don't have an Ebay account and want a shot at the tickets, just send
Maggie an email and we'll take care of it.
Just go here to place your bid.
Good luck!
May 16, 2007
We're kicking off the DEPORT Bounding Main campaign with a barbeque in Grayslake
on the afternoon of Saturday, June 23. All the food will be brought and
cooked by Bounding Main, and we will supply refreshing drinks as well. On
top of the delicious eats, there will be madcap hilarity, games, and maybe a
little singing. (Har! - just try to get us to NOT sing.)
This is your chance to get a truly personal Bounding Main experience . . . a
whole afternoon with us, entirely focused on you. We understand that you'll
be putting up more money than you would for just a show, and we intend to
make the event worth every penny.
We are keeping the BBQ small, as we want it to be as personal as possible
for our guests. It is open for 20 people, and the tickets are going to the
highest bidders. Thats right, Bounding Main has entered the world of EBay!
The tickets will be available in two rounds of ten tickets each. Although
the auction states ten tickets, you can bid on your quantity of choice - one
ticket, two, or five or whatever.
Just go here to bid on
the first set.
Happy bidding!
How it all started
May 8, 2007
Sitting in a dark and dank cellar by candlelight we all
pondered how we could raise sufficient funds to support our
trip. "Bake Sale!" someone cried, yielding a storm of
bread crusts and curses from the others.
"Barbecue!
It's the Pirate thing to do!"
"Picnic and Paddleboats! It's the Nautical thing to
do!"
"Rent a bus to take everyone on a land venture to a Lake
Geneva seafood restaurant! Nobody's done something
THAT crazy!"
So, we've come up
with a number of fun events that we'll be throwing
to not only entertain you, but to help us raise the
moiety of coin required to get our ship across the
Western Sea to Europe in 2008. More details to
follow shortly!
